We crafted a custom Blue Old World Mid-Century style for this client, who wanted a distinctive blend of classic European charm and cool Mid-Century flair, all wrapped up in rich blue tones that incorporated cherished inherited pieces. We developed a design concept that showcases the client’s personal history and love for blue tones, incorporating vintage and inherited pieces to create a seamless fusion of old-world charm and modern comfort.
The Design
Key elements in this design include incorporating heirloom or inherited pieces that bring personal history into the design. These items, often antique or vintage in nature, add character and warmth, telling a story through each piece. To balance the ornate details of Old World influence, Mid-Century Modern elements like low-profile furniture, simple geometric shapes, and clean lines offer contrast, keeping the design from feeling overly formal or dated.
The color palette focuses on deep, moody blues—ranging from navy to sapphire—paired with soft neutrals like beige, gray, and cream. This combination of hues allows the blue tones to stand out as both bold and sophisticated, while the neutrals soften the look and maintain a cohesive, balanced environment.
