The Blue Old World Family Room & Dining Room Project

Our client knew she wanted a change. She didn’t come in with a vision - just a feeling that her family room and dining area wasn’t working anymore. So we started with a conversation.

During her Room Strategy Session, we talked through her space, her lifestyle, and the pieces that meant the most to her. What came out of that conversation was a clear vision she didn’t know she had — warm, grounded, cozy, bold, and completely her.

What Our Client Wanted

Once we uncovered her vision, everything became clear.

She wanted a space that felt spacious but cozy. Calm but full of personality. Earthy and inviting, with enough warmth to make you want to stay awhile. Her taste leaned toward pieces that are intentional, comfortable, and quietly beautiful — think Joybird, West Elm, and Pottery Barn.

A few things were non-negotiable. Her grandmother’s china cabinet was staying. So was the artwork her dad created. The couch, fan, drapes, and fireplace were all working — they just needed the right room built around them.

And yes — the rug had to hold up to her dog.

We built a design strategy around everything she already loved and everything she was ready to add.

We kept what was working and layered in what was missing — a durable rug, pillows that tied the palette together, plants that brought the space to life, a coffee table, a dining table and chairs, and a ceiling light that anchored the room.

We added a beautiful teal blue accent wall with molding detail that gave the space architecture and intention without feeling overdone. Her grandmother’s china cabinet became a true focal point — the decorated china on display exactly the way it deserved to be. Her dad’s artwork found its place on the wall like it had always belonged there.

Every decision was made with her in mind.

What We Did Together

This is where we started. Watch the walkthrough to see the original space — a room with real potential that just hadn’t found its direction yet.

Before the Transformation

After the Transformation

This is what happens when a space finally reflects the person living in it.

Warm neutrals. Blues. Meaningful pieces. Thoughtful details. A room that feels both personal and pulled together — cozy without being cluttered, bold without being loud.

She didn’t just get a redesigned room. She got a space that feels completely like her.
